4.Do you recommend students from your own country to study at Tunghai University?
Answer:
Yes, I highly recommend Tunghai University for students from my country, especially for those who are interested in immersing themselves in a Chinese-speaking environment while pursuing their studies. Tunghai University offers an excellent education for international students, including comprehensive Chinese language programs designed to accommodate learners of all levels, even those who are starting from scratch.
Furthermore, while proficiency in Chinese can greatly enhance the overall experience of studying in Taiwan, Tunghai University recognizes the diverse linguistic backgrounds of its international students. Professors at the university understand the challenges faced by non-native speakers and are accommodating in their teaching approach. They won't pressure students to speak Chinese fluently, allowing them to communicate in English or a mix of languages when necessary, even during exams.

1. Why did you choose to study in Taiwan?
Answer:
I once heard from friends that Taiwan is a great country in terms of technology, so that's why I was interested in going to continue my study in Taiwan.

2. How can the department help international students in their study and life?
Answer:
In my opinion, the department can help international students with the first step of being able to speak English and starting to provide information, not only in Chinese but by adding explanations in English. Translation applications can help, but not often the application mistranslates by not conveying everything completely. Every time I must meet with people from the department, I need to bring Taiwanese friends to help me translate. Sometimes I feel like I'm bothering them from their research, but in the end, they eventually help me because they put pity on me.

3. What do you gain from studying in Taiwan?
Answer:
I learned how to survive without mastering Chinese. But apart from that, I have gained a lot from the teachers and friends here who show work ethic and focus on the fields they study. I really want to be like them.

4. Do you recommend students from your own country to study at Tunghai University?
Answer:
Maybe. For people from my country, going to Taiwan is quite expensive, so a stable financial source is needed while studying in Taiwan. Apart from that, the lack of English-taught classes at Tunghai makes me hesitant to recommend it to my friends. In my case, I had to actively look for English-taught lessons myself in other departments because there were only Chinese-taught classes in my department. I hope the department can assist in finding English-taught classes from other departments.
